State of My City: A Poem

I want to go home.

This will not be my tomb.

I want to go home.

I want you to know,

I’m not making a political speech today.

Because I want to go home.

Really, this is not about me. This is about you.

I’m The People’s Mayor.

I care about the people. Especially the Latinos.

Remember how well I sung Felease Namidad at Christmas?

Yeah, it was great. Really great.

But I want to go home.

I’m not a politician. I don’t have anything on my mind.

Many people accuse me of not knowing much

about what takes place in government.

And I will say to them, One thing I have learned is that

...the ability of the....

...responsibility of the...

...I try to work in unity with everyone...

...people. people are the main thing that any government...

...should basically try to work with cuz they’re important...

We’ll just make Reading Great Again.

I’ll do it. It’ll be great.

I want to go home.

What is coming up a lot in my Monday meetings

is the murders and the killings.

I look at it differently

At all the murders and the killings

Other cities are having them too

It’s not like we’re unique or something.

Besides, that’s not what Mondays are for.

I don’t know how to do a favor for someone dead.

I just want to go home.

What is the state of my city?

Government doesn’t work when people don’t work.

Even though it’s hard to follow, and not very coherent,

Let me tell you my question has two answers:

The community itself is helping

Something about a regurgitating cow

We’re like the forgotten part of Reading. And I’m trying to figure out why. But I forgot.

Who writes good about us? Who basically is publicizing what a great city we have?

My question to you is that:

I want to go home.

But I’m still looking for someone goooood, okay, to be part of the city

And basically make it run and make this government run and stuff.

Cuz I want to go home.

Will I ever understand this City?

Or will I know the rule of order around here?

Or what you’re supposed to do?

Probably not.

But that’s okay. I want to go home.

Do I believe our government, our city

Will be better with new people?

Probably, yes.

I think you got the idea that I would like to go home. Yes?

Well, I’m going to keep talking but, if you stop listening

I won’t blame you.

I got a little of key here,

But these things needed to be done.

It’s not like I have anything meaningful to say.

But I want you to know,

I want to go home.

This will not be my tomb.

I want to go home.

That’s the state of my city.

Oh, and another thing.

Some people are saying City employees

Do whatever I say because they fear me.

They don’t fear me

They just know I’m right.

I could tell you a story about everything.

I don’t back down.

There’s a lot of people who could run for office

Who could do the same thing as me.

I have this note about something.

I wrote it down a this morning

because it was probably important then...

It was probably about City Council

And maybe all Brian's parking tickets

Dangnabbit, I can’t remember.

Just vote THE WALLY for Mayor. 2019.

No really, vote WALLY.

It’ll be great.

WALLY 2019.

But actually, don’t.

I just want to go home.
